Main aims of the project

  • To increase operational safety over the lifetime and Long-Term-Operation
(LTO ) period due to the in-time prediction and avoiding of the potential failure in LWR technologies in general and specifically on the VVER reactors.

  • To determine the most affected and threatened components from the LTO point of view and describe the effect of the LTO on the material properties.

  • To provide a set of recommendations for future LTO-related assessments.

  • To harmonize the national methodologies and to obtain the generally acceptable set of recommendations for the assessment of swelling and thermal aging.

  • To develop a combined non-destructive and simulation tool, able to predict the non-acceptable state of the material and able for the assessment of the prolongation of the lifetime of the LWR NPPs.

  • To propose the methodology of the qualification of materials or components for the design life extension.
